FAQs

Are dental x-rays safe?

Yes, dental x-rays are safe. Digital dental x-rays require low levels of radiation exposure. There are also safeguards such as lead aprons with thyroid shields to help limit radiation exposure.

What are dental sealants?

Dental sealants are protective barriers that are applied to the biting surface of permanent teeth. Sealants essentially fill in the small grooves of permanent teeth, making it easier to brush and harder to get cavities.

Can you straighten my teeth?

Yes, our office offers braces, traditional "brackets and wires" or Invisalign (clear) braces. Braces have no age range -many adults have chosen to do braces to help improve the way their teeth look as well as how they function.

When should my child see the dentist?

We recommend age 3 for a dental cleaning and x-rays. However, if your child is experiencing difficulty or you are noticing problems, we will be happy to see them at any age.

Why should we fill baby teeth?

Primary or "baby" teeth have many functions; they help children chew their food properly and speak correctly, and help preserve the space for the permanent teeth. Children will have some of their baby teeth until age 12, making it very important that we keep them in great working shape!

How can I replace a missing tooth?

There are many ways to replace missing teeth. There are partial or complete dentures which are appliances that you can take in or out. There are also fixed bridges that are cemented in place and cannot come out. Another option is a dental implant which is a screw that is implanted into the bone and then restored with a crown.

How can I whiten my teeth?

One of the easiest ways to whiten teeth is with Treswhite whitening trays which are available from our office. They are a set of foam trays that you apply to the surface of the teeth for 20-30 minutes. We can also make custom bleaching trays that you apply bleaching solution to and wear for 20-30 minutes.

Do you take payment plans?

Yes, we currently offer CareCredit as a payment plan option. CareCredit is a low-interest plan that patients use to help offset the costs of dental treatment. You may fill an application out in our office, over the phone, or on the internet.

How long do crowns or veneers last?

A properly applied crown or veneer can last many years. It does require good oral home care such as proper brushing and flossing, and routine dental exams.

Do you take my insurance?

We file insurance claims for all of our patients, even if we are not in their network. Currently, we are “in-network” providers for MetLife, United Concordia, Delta, Cigna, DentaQuest, and Medicaid.
