Are dental x-rays safe?

Yes, dental x-rays are safe. Digital dental xrays require low levels of radiation exposure. There are also safe guards such as lead aprons with thyroid shields to help limit radiation exposure.

What are dental sealants?

Dental sealants are protective barriers that are applied to the biting surface of permanent teeth. Sealants essentially fill in the small grooves of permanent teeth, making it easier to brush and harder to get cavities.

Can you straighten my teeth?

Yes, our office offers braces, traditional "brackets and wires" or Invisalign (clear) braces. Braces have no age range -many adults have chosen to do braces to help improve the way their teeth look as well as how they function.

When should my child see the dentist?

We recommend age 3 for a dental cleaning and x-rays, however, if your child is experiencing difficulty or you are noticing problems we will be happy to see them at any age.

Why should we fill baby teeth?

Primary or "baby" teeth have many functions; they help children chew their food properly, they help children speak correctly, and they help preserve the space for the permanent teeth. Children will have some of their baby teeth until age 12, making it very important that we keep them in great working shape!

How can I replace a missing tooth?

There are many ways to replace missing teeth; there are partial or complete dentures which are appliances that you can take in or out. There are also fixed bridges that are cemented in place and cannot come out. Another option is a dental implant which is a screw that is implanted in bone and then is restored with a crown.

How can I whiten my teeth?

One of the easiest ways to whiten teeth is with Tres White whitening trays which are available from our office. They are a set of foam trays that you apply to the surface of the teeth for 20-30 minutes. We can also make custom bleaching trays that you apply bleaching solution to and wear for 20-30 minutes.

Do you take payment plans?

Yes, we currently offer Care Credit as a payment plan option. Care Credit is a low interest plan that patients use to help offset costs of dental treatment. You are able to fill an application out in our office, over the phone, or on the internet.

How long do crowns or veneers last?

A properly applied crown or veneer can last many years; it does require good oral home care such as proper brushing and flossing, and routine dental exams.

Do you take my insurance?

We file insurance claims for all of our patients, even if we are not in their network. Currently, we are “in-network” providers for Metlife, United Concordia, Delta, Cigna, DentaQuest, and Medicaid.

What our patients are saying about us

  • Dr. Laura is my dentist and I love her!  She is a down-to-earth lady who doesn't stand on a pedestal because she holds a doctorate.  I have also seen Dr. Christie for a root canal and I didn't feel a thing!  And he explained what he was doing every step of the way.  My comfort was a top priority of Dr. Christie and Dr. Laura.  The staff has always been friendly to my husband and myself.  The office itself is very clean and modern with lots of windows and skylights to let in natural light.  Dr. Laura will be my dentist for a very long time!
    ~Linda Mason

  • I am extremely pleased with my new bridge from Christie Family Dentistry. I have received lots of compliments on how great my teeth look. I also think they look great, and they feel great. I was not happy with the old bridge work, uneven and off color. Dr. Laura and her staff were wonderful and I could not be happier with the product or the service.

  • I am very happy with my Invisalign. My bottom teeth were severely crowded and I avoided showing them at all costs because I was so embarrassed by them. Not only do my bottom teeth look so much better, my tops look nice too! Invisalign straightened my teeth in less than a year! I’d recommend them to anyone!
    ~Jessica Blair

  • The one major complaint that people with lower dentures have is their dentures just float.  I had heard about dental implants but wasn't totally convinced.  Dr. Laura talked me with about implants; she answered every question I had, and any concern I had was gone.  She explained everything that would be done.  I decided it was a chance of a lifetime.  It has been almost a year and I can say the implants are great.  I can eat without my lower denture moving, and I can speak and not be self conscious of my denture floating.  The one true test if you are wondering if they make a big difference, try yawning, where are your dentures?  ~Daniel Baldwin

  • Several years ago I was in great pain with my TMJ (jaw joint problem.) I sought help from several dentists. I spent over a year with a recognized specialist in Indianapolis to no avail. A friend suggested Dr. Christie. He and his staff were able to remedy the pain caused by the TMJ. I no longer have any trouble. I was able to get back into life! I also have a fantastic smile today with beautiful teeth. Yes, it took a length of time to correct, but Dr. Christie and his staff treated me with respect, understanding, and with dignity. They REALLY cared about me and how I was feeling every step of the way. And they still do!  ~Marsha Baltzell

  • Before getting my porcelain veneers, my teeth were dull and stained from an antibiotic I had taken as a child. I tried every bleaching product out there and none of them worked at removing the stains. I decided on porcelain veneers because I would not have to lose any tooth structure and they looked so natural. People now tell me I have a beautiful smile. Thanks Dr. Christie!

  • I drive from Indianapolis to see him (Dr. Christie) and his staff, whom I love. He takes very good care of me and I appreciate that, as I do not like going to the dentist. I highly recommend him.
